Day 1: Amman Airport – Amman

Arrive in Amman, the capital of Jordan, which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Set off on an unforgettable adventure to historic Jordan, where Darna's Travel representative will meet and assist upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) Amman. Completion of all costumes, immigration procedures, passport formalities, and Visa handling will be processed. Private transfer to the hotel with accommodations provided. Spend the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Day 2: Wadi Rum

From Amman, we immediately head south on the Desert Highway to Wadi Rum. We walk through one of the most powerfully evocative places in the Middle East, to our campsite. Today is all about embracing the Wadi Rum desert experience in its authenticity, as we have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the nomadic Bedouin people. Wadi Rum occupies a region of 74,000 acres and as described by T.E. Lawrence, is 'vast, echoing and God-like...'. Monolithic outcrops of granite rock and sandstone rise out of the desert with a drifting blanket of sand between them. It is at its most impressive at the beginning and end of the day when the soft light and blue sky create a coppery effect on the sand. We walk to southern Wadi, where Lawrence of Arabia used to live, and begin exploring this vast desert. At the end of the visit, return to the hotel.

Day 3: Wadi Rum

We spend this day and continue exploring the beautiful desert area of Wadi Rum. Starting from our desert camp, we walk in the footsteps of the early Nabatean traders. Spices, silks, and perfumes were once carried along this same route. We will explore the northern side of Wadi Rum visiting the natural stone bridge, walking past sand dunes, following camel footprints, and seeing inscriptions and graffiti on the weathered pink granite mountains. The desert is another world, inhabited by the Bedouin people for generations. After an unforgettable day's trekking through this remarkable desert scenery of sculpted sandstone canyons and pristine dunes, we return to our camp and enjoy another night under the glittering sky.

Day 4: Wadi Rum – Petra

You can look forward this morning to begin exploring the rose city that was abandoned centuries ago. This other-worldly place is enhanced by the play of light and shadow to create an altogether magical experience, giving us the chance to truly explore this jewel in-depth. Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as one of the new wonders of the world. This ancient city carved in the rocks has retained its grandeur throughout the centuries and although much has been written about it, nothing really prepares you for the impact of this unique site. At the end of the visit, return to the hotel.

Day 5: Petra

Today we head back to Petra to continue our exploration and walk up to one of Petra's greatest monuments, Ad-Deir (The Monastery), set high above the city and almost hidden in the mountains. The remainder of the day is free to explore the site at leisure. At the end of the visit, return to the hotel.

Day 6: Petra – Kerak – Madaba

This morning we hike to Little Petra and explore the tombs and the remains of caves previously inhabited by the Nabateans. Afterward, we drive along the Desert Highway until merging with one of the oldest routes in the world, King's Highway, north to the impressive Crusader Castle of Kerak, and finally, we continue to the small, mostly Christian town of Madaba. Madaba is famous for its collection of extraordinary mosaics, including the Great Map of Palestine (6th century). Discovered in 1896, and only fragmentary, it contains a good picture of Jerusalem. At the end of the visit, return to the hotel in Madaba.

Day 7: Mount Nebo – Dead Sea – Jerash – Amman

Today we visit Mount Nebo - the point from which Moses saw the Promised Land. Then we descend to the lowest place on earth, the shimmering Dead Sea. Surrounded by barren hills, this unique water body has an amazingly high salt content (33%+) which means no animal life survives and that it is almost impossible to sink. The magical experience of floating naturally is unique and relaxing on the calm sea. There is also the opportunity for mud pack treatments, renowned for their precious mineral contents and their health and beauty benefits. At the end of the visit, return to the hotel in Amman.

Day 8: Amman – Departure

Transfer to the airport. Assistance with formalities and departure.
